Take a look at what happened during the VI SPIn 2019

On August 16th PUCPR International welcomed about 100 people at the 6th PUCPR Symposium about Internationalization - SPIn, under the topic "Students First". 

On August 16th PUCPR International welcomed about 100 people to hear Brazilian and international students as the protagonists of the 6th PUCPR Symposium about Internationalization – SPIn, under the topic “Students First”.

During the event, students were in evidence and presented their perspectives on their international academic experiences and international initiatives. The speakers, from undergraduate to Ph.D. programs, talked about their experiences in internationalization at home as well as mobility programs, such as regular exchange, double degree, and short term programs.

The opening ceremony included a talk from the PUCPR Pro-Rector for Graduate Programs, Research and Innovation, Prof. Dr. Paula Trevilato, and from Prof. Dr. Marcelo Távora Mira, PUCPR International director, who talked about PUCPR international initiatives and perspectives. The keynote speakers were Isabella Peixoto, an alumnus from PUCPR Campus Maringá, and William Ivan Gallo Aponte, an exchange student at the Law Graduate Program from Colombia.

Isabella Porcu pointed out some interesting aspects of the International Career, and how to create opportunities from a young age and William Ivan Gallo Aponte presented his point of view on academic and cultural aspects of Brasil as a destination for international students.

In the afternoon, the Brazilian Gabriela Loires Diniz, MSc, presented the interesting findings of her master’s research in Canada, on the reasons why students choose Brasil for an exchange experience and how they learn the Portuguese language and interact with local people.

The event ended with a panel discussion on international academic experience with Brazilian and international students who are currently enrolled in a range of PUCPR programs. The students talked about their experiences abroad, from the setbacks to the joy and achievements of those experiences, and their expectations on future opportunities to come.
