PUCPR JOINS SELECTIVE GROUP ON A UK-LATAC HIGHER EDUCATION MISSION

In March, Professor Marcelo Távora Mira, the Director for PUCPR International, was invited to join a distinguished group of universities from Brazil and Mexico to attend the “UK-LATAC Higher Education Mission” in London. The primary aim of the trip was to explore and promote fresh opportunities for internationalizing higher education and transnational education (TNE) to benefit Brazil, Mexico, and Great Britain.

The delegation held discussions with prominent UK institutions, including UK International, Pearson, Oxford University Press, Cambridge University Press & Assessment English, and the British Council, regarding language policies and the British higher education system. The group of Brazilian and Mexican universities, which included INSPER, FACAMP – Faculdades de Campinas, Fundação Dom Cabral, Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Paraná, Universidad Anáhuac, Universidad Iberoamericana, Ciudad de México, Tecnológico de Monterrey, and UDLAP, was also invited to visit some of the top universities in the UK.

Apart from establishing networks and future collaborations between the Mexican, Brazilian, and British universities, the delegation was introduced to transnational education (TNE). TNE refers t

o education delivered in a country other than where the awarding institution is based. UK HE TNE, on the other hand, denotes UK degree programs offered outside the UK. Such programs are available across all academic areas and levels of study, with options for part-time or full-time study. UK HE TNE can be delivered online/distance learning through local partnerships or a UK institution’s physical presence in another country, such as a branch campus, study center, or flying faculty.
