The world’s largest game creation event returns to PUCPR: Game Jam expects to gather 600 participants

International game Creation Marathon will begin on January 25th and applications are already open

The 10th edition of the Global game Jam (GGJ) will land at PUCPR on January 25th and 27th, when experienced and wannabe developers will attempt to design and build video games within a strict 48-hour period. The applications for the traditional marathon are now open. PUCPR’s GGJ is hosted by the university’s Technology Program in Digital Games.

On the 25th, the gates will open at 4p.m and the creative challenge begins at 6p.m. Students, professionals and general enthusiasts are coming together to create games for 48 hours based on a theme to be unveiled at the opening ceremony. The games to be developed can be digital, board, with Virtual reality, involving hardware, sports and gymnastics and RPG adventures.

Opportunity

According to Bruno Campagnolo, coordinator of the technology course in digital games at PUCPR and GGJ organizer at our university, Game Jam is an excellent opportunity all participants have to exploit all their creative potential. ” It’s a challenge, a chance to test boundaries and do something different in an immersive way, “he concludes.

The marathon is held simultaneously it more than 800 locations in 100 countries. During the last few years, GGJ at PUCPR was the largest event held in South America, the second largest in number of participants and the most productive in the world, with more than 100 teams participating in the competition. This year’s edition is expected to attract approximately 600 participants.

Following the event’s schedule, during the afternoon of the 27th, GGJ CWB will be open to exhibit the final works to public to vote and, on the 1st and 2nd of March, the most voted games will be part of a public exhibition during the GGJ Play Party.
