For the first issue, papers can be emailed directly to the editors on urbe@pucpr.br. From the second issue onwards, papers will be submitted through the digital submission system, on the journal’s website, respecting the editorial norms. Papers will be considered
in the following formats: theoretical study, essay, critical review, report of an experiment or report of a research. The studies that do not follow the specifications below will be automatically refused.
Editorial Norms
a) All the articles must be original and will be submitted to the system of blind peer review, and cannot be simultaneously submitted to other journals and/or scientific events.
b) The analysis of the articles received is based on the system of double blind review. The received articles are firstly analyzed by editors and, if they follow the norms for publication and are considered as potentially publishable, they are sent, anonymously, to ad-hoc referees chosen by the editors. Authors are, then, notified on the decision
based on referee’s commentaries and, if recommended, also informed on the estimated date publication.
c) Exceptionally, articles that have already been published in foreign journals or scientific events will be accepted, subject to the same assessment system of double blind review. In this case, authors must present a written authorization by the publisher of the journal where it was originally published, or by the scientific committee in the case of
an academic event.
d) Referees will receive papers to be assessed according this these norms considering four possible results: (1) accepted without revisions; (2) conditional acceptance; (3) re-submission; and (4) rejected. The editors reserve the right to take any decision about contradictory reviews, always considering external assessment and keeping rigorous anonymity about
referees’ and authors’ identities.
e) The editors and referees reserve the right to suggest changes and amendments to the originals, in order to keep the quality of the publication, respecting, however, the style and the opinions of the authors. Statements, opinions and concepts expressed in the articles are authors’ entire responsibility. The submission of the paper to urbe does
not implicate in its acceptance for publication, but the acceptance, by the author, of the norms expressed herein, as well as the authorization for their publication.
f) Copyright of published papers belongs to Editora Universitária Champagnat, and the originals will not be returned.
Style and convention
Presentation
Papers must be typed in Word for Windows, font Times New Roman, size 12, double space and justified paragraph. Pages must be numbered and configured in the A4 format. Papers must be between 15 and 20 pages. The total of pages must include abstracts, references, illustrations, tables, figures, etc. The original document must present a separate page containing
authors’ identification.
Identification page: the first page of the document must present authorship information and affiliation containing the title in the paper’s original language (CAPITALS, bold, font Times New Roman, size 14, centralized paragraph) and in Portuguese (Low Key, with initial in capitals, in italic, font Times New Roman, size 12, centralized paragraph).
The full name of each author must be presented from the third line (right margin), indicating in footnote the institutional affiliation, highest title and complete address (including Zip code and e-mail) of one of the authors. This is the only part of the paper in which there must appear the identification of the authors.
Main body of the manuscript: The main body of the article must follow the identification page, without any reference to the authors or origin institutions. The titles (in Portuguese and in English) must be included in the same manner as in the identification page. The abstract must be in the same page with keywords.
Abstract
Authors must provide two abstracts, being one in its first and original language (English, French or Spanish), and a second in Portuguese. The abstract in Portuguese will only be required after the acceptance of the article for publication. The essential contents of each article should be outlined in an abstract of not more than 250 words, with font Times New
Roman size 11, simple spacing and justified paragraph. In the last line, 3 to 5 keywords must be indicated, presented in low key letters (first letter of the first term in capitals) and separated by comas, ending with a full stop.
Notes
The observations inserted in the body of the paper must be indicated by Arabic numerals elevated immediately after the sentence to which they refer, and restricted to the minimum possible. The observations must be in the footnotes of the same page in which they are inserted. There must be no footnotes with references of the authors.
Figures and tables
Illustrations, drawings, etc. must be sent in a digitalized copy (resolution 300 dpis, jpg or tif). Images must be mentioned in the text, but submitted in a separate file.
Figures and tables must be presented with their respective captions with font Times New Roman, size 11, in bold, centralized paragraph. Titles must be inserted on the top of figures and tables. Sources for figures and tables must be concise and inserted on its lower part. When mentioning a Figure/Table in the body of the text, use Arabic numeral and Capital initial.
The expressions “Figure below/above” or “Table following” must not be used as they may be located differently from their original positions.
All tables must follow the example below:

Quotations
Quotes must follow the ‘author-date system’ (Name, Year):
- Non literal quote: up to 2 authors indicate the year of publication in all the quotations [ex: According to Santos (2002)...]. From 3 to 5 authors, indicate the last names of all of them and the year of publication in the first insertion; from then on, indicate only the last name of the first author followed by the expression et al. and the year of publication
[ex: Duarte, Ultramari & Firmino (2005) ... according to Duarte et al. (2005)...]. From 6 or more authors, indicate the last name of the first author followed by the expression et al. and the year of publication in all the quotes [ex: Camargo et al. (2002)...].
- Literal quote: the sentence must appear between double quotation marks (inverted commas) with the indication of the page where it was taken from immediately after the quote [ex: Graham (1998, p.167) argues that “the pervasive reliance on spatial and technological metaphors actually…”]. Quotes with more than 40
words must be separated from the main text with an indent of 1 cm from the left and right margins, without quotation marks, font Times New Roman size 10 and simple spacing.
- Indirect quote: must be avoided, but, if inevitable, the original reference must be informed as well as the date of publication of the paper and the use of the expression apud to indicate the indirect quote [ex: Fu-Chen Lo, 1991 apud Santos, 1997...].
